Calling all Disney fans, there may be even more Disney fun on the horizon.
According to a report from People, planning documents released by the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District (CFTOD) reveal that Disney has laid the groundwork for developing a new “major theme park” along with two “minor” parks in Orlando, Florida.
And that’s not all. The plans also include new resort hotels, shopping, dining areas and an 18-hole golf course. The news comes nearly three decades after Disney’s last major Florida park opening, which for those who don’t remember was the arrival of Animal Kingdom in 1998.
Per the People report, the total area that is likely to be developed amounts to about 2,629 acres. Of that space, the “major” park would cover about 500 acres, while the other “minor” parks would require 300 acres.
To be clear, however, Disney has not made a commitment to developing these parks. The plans on file with the CFTOD simply provide Disney with options should the entertainment giant decide to move forward. Moreover, the plans for new additions are for the next 20 years, stretching until 2045.
Still, the release of the CFTOD plans appears to be the latest signal that Disney may have more projects in the works for its Florida campus. In 2024, Florida’s governor and CFTOD agreed to allow Disney to move forward with plans to invest up to $17 billion in its Orlando location.
For it’s part, Disney has been mum on the news and did not respond to a request for comment for this report.
Disney officials however, did recently announce that the Florida resort will be rolling out a wave of new shows, attractions,
dining spots and land expansions throughout 2025 and beyond, aiming
to make “The Most Magical Place on Earth” feel fresher and more exciting
than ever.
Last year also brought about many new developments on the Disney front, with Disney’s international parks
introducing bold new expansions and its domestic destinations focused on breathing new
life into iconic attractions and hotels.
