Royal Caribbean has officially welcomed its newest ship, Star of the Seas, to the fleet.
The company hosted a naming celebration in Port Canaveral, Florida, featuring crew members, executives and guests in the AquaTheater. The ship’s godmother, Kellie Gerardi, was on hand to bestow safekeeping on the ship.
“A vacation on Star is the perfect combination of two of my biggest passions in life, a spirit of exploration and quality time with family, and I can’t wait for this journey to begin,” says Gerardi, a research astronaut and payload specialist.
The ship has eight neighborhoods featuring a variety of activity and amenities, from the Category 6 waterpark to the Crown’s Edge experience 154 feet above the ocean. Guests can enjoy seven pools, more than 40 restaurants and bars and entertaining performances like “Back to the Future: The Musical.”
Star of the Seas will homeport in Port Canaveral, offering 7-night adventures in the Eastern and Western Caribbean, including Perfect Day at CocoCay.
“With Star, we’re not just launching a ship, we’re advancing our mission to create the world’s best vacations responsibly for guests of all ages,” says Jason Liberty, president and chief executive officer of Royal Caribbean Group.
