Next summer, U.S. air travelers will have nonstop access to an array of unique destinations in Europe, thanks to United Airlines’ latest route announcement.
The carrier has announced nonstop service from its hub at New Jersey’s Newark International Airport (EWR) to four new cities in Europe, including destinations in Croatia, Scotland, Italy, and Spain, starting in summer 2026.
Among the new destinations are Split, Croatia; Glasgow, Scotland; Santiago de Compostela, Spain; and Bari, Italy. United will be the only U.S. carrier to operate nonstop routes to all four cities.
Service on the new routes will kick off on April 30, with thrice-weekly flights from EWR to Split’s Saint Jerome Airport (SPU) aboard the airline’s Boeing 767-300ER aircraft. Split is known for its ancient Roman sites, like Diocletian’s Palace, as well as being a gateway for Croatia’s Krka National Park and the Dalmatian Islands.
Flights to Bari, Italy, in the country’s Puglia region will be the next to launch on May 1. United will operate flights four times per week, also aboard its Boeing 767-300ER planes. The coastal city of Bari is known for its stunning Adriatic beaches, its labyrinthine Old Town that dates back to the Middle Ages, and its delicious street food. The town will be United’s sixth summer destination in Italy.
Starting May 8, the airline will begin daily seasonal flights from EWR to Glasgow, Scotland, the nation’s largest city. Travelers looking for a Scottish city break can board United’s Boeing 737 Max-8 and explore Glasgow’s numerous museums, pubs, and gardens. The city is also known for being a popular departure point for journeys into Scotland’s stunning highlands region.
Rounding out the new launches to Europe will be service to Santiago de Compostela, Spain, starting on May 22. The city, known for being the end point of the iconic Camino de Santiago pilgrimage trail, sits in Spain’s northwest corner and is the capital of the Galicia region. United will use its Boeing 737 Max-8 aircraft to operate thrice-weekly seasonal service between Newark and Santiago de Compostela, which will also be its sixth destination in Spain.
In addition to the four new European routes, United also announced it would begin daily nonstop service between Newark and Seoul, South Korea, on September 4, 2026, using its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.
The carrier will also increase flight frequencies on two of its existing routes. On May 21, United will begin offering daily flights on its route from Washington, D.C.’s Dulles International Airport (IAD) to Reykjavik, Iceland.
The carrier will also launch a third flight from Newark to Tel Aviv, Israel (TLV), starting on March 28, 2026. “United has flown more flights to Tel Aviv this year than any other U.S. airline and will be the only airline operating flights between Tel Aviv and both Chicago and Washington D.C. when they begin in early November,” the airline said.
With the new expansion, the airline will continue its record of offering the most transatlantic destinations of any U.S. carrier in summer 2026. United also said it would bring back all nine of the international routes it launched in 2025, which included unconventional destinations like seasonal service Nuuk, Greenland, and Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, and year-round flights to Dakar, Senegal.
“United has an unmatched international network, and we pride ourselves on connecting our customers to unique, trendsetting destinations no other U.S. airline serves,” said Patrick Quayle, United’s senior vice president of global network planning and alliances. “With the addition of these new flights and the return of all of our new routes from last year, United now flies to 46 cities across the Atlantic – more than any other airline – and is the clear flag carrier of the U.S.”
The carrier plans to offer a whopping 3,000 weekly international roundtrips during the summer 2026 season.
Fares for all of the new routes are on sale now.
