Ski season is almost here, and Schweitzer is offering new experiences, expanded instructional programs and unique dining events atop the mountain.
Located in the Selkirk Mountains of Idaho, the 2,900-acre resort has set a tentative opening date of November 21.
“Each winter brings new opportunities for our guests to experience Schweitzer in fresh ways,” says Tom Chasse, president and chief operating officer of Schweitzer. “From unique dining at the summit to expanded youth programs, these additions complement the significant investments we’ve made in recent years and underscore our commitment to delivering an exceptional mountain experience.”
Starting in January, guests can enjoy Summit Sunrise Breakfast at Sky House on select Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The ski area will load the lifts early to take skiers and riders to Sky House at the summit, where they can enjoy a themed pre-fixe breakfast with an optional mimosa bar. Then, guests will be among the first to ski or ride down the slopes, just as the lifts start opening to the public.
Schweitzer is also bringing back its Sky House Snowcat Dinners. These memorable full-moon evenings start with a Champagne reception at the Clock Tower in Schweitzer’s Village, followed by a chairlift ride to the summit. At Sky House, guests can then enjoy a multi-course dinner with wine pairings before descending the mountain by snowcat.
The resort is also once again hosting Kids Ski Free Week, when children 17 and under can ski or ride for free if they preregister online. This year, the event is scheduled to take place December 6-12.
Schweitzer has also renewed its Fly Alaska, Ski Free partnership. Guests arriving on Alaska Airlines’ flights in Spokane can show their same-day boarding pass for a free lift ticket valid on their arrival day. Alaska Airlines offers non-stop service to Spokane from Boise, Los Angeles, Portland, San Francisco, Seattle and, new this season, San Diego.
Schweitzer is also continuing to support the Numerica Read to Ski Program, in partnership with Numerica Credit Union and the Lake Pend Oreille School District. Seventh- and eighth-grade students who read at least 10 hours before Thanksgiving break will receive a free single-day junior lift ticket during the 2025-26 season.
Schweitzer is also expanding its Ski & Ride School offerings to include new full-day group lessons for kids ages 6-12. The resort is also debuting Freestyle Camp, a multi-week program designed to help kids learn freestyle and freeride skills in terrain parks and natural terrain. In addition, the longstanding, multi-week Mountain Xplorers program now welcomes skiers and snowboarders ages 6-13.
The newly unveiled enhancements build on more than $75 million of investment over the last five years. Schweitzer also constructed the 31-room Humbird boutique hotel, opened the new Cambium Spa, installed a new high-speed lift and created Schweitzer Backcountry Adventures, offering guided snowmobiling and cat-skiing access to over 4,000 additional acres of terrain.
