Condado Vanderbilt Hotel, Puerto Rico’s legendary oceanfront retreat, has announced the completion of an extensive renovation to its guest rooms, suites and corridors.
Built in 1919 by Frederick William Vanderbilt, the renovation blends historic grandeur with curated artwork and contemporary sophistication. The hotel, situated in the San Juan Condado district, has also introduced an exclusive In-Suite Wellness Package and the addition of Executive Chef Juan A. Peña to lead its culinary program.
“This milestone represents both an evolution and a renewal for Condado Vanderbilt,” said Ben Tutt, Managing Partner of The Condado Collection, in a statement. “We have honored the property’s rich history while thoughtfully enhancing every detail to resonate with today’s luxury traveler. With redesigned guestrooms, a distinctive wellness offering, and the arrival of Chef Peña, Condado Vanderbilt is reaffirming its place as Puerto Rico’s most iconic luxury destination.”
The new accommodations combine timeless elegance with subtle references to Spanish Colonial architecture and Caribbean artistry, along with San Juan’s vibrant energy. The 317 guestrooms, including 100 spacious suites, offer guests a luxurious sanctuary with a blend of heritage and modern influence. Crisp white moldings, soft green hues, hand-tufted carpets, polished marble, and deep-toned woods set a refined stage, while metallic accents and mirrored details add touches of glamour and oversized furnishings add warmth.
“At Paulson Puerto Rico, we are proud to preserve the essence of historic icons such as the Condado Vanderbilt while reimagining its future,” said Rolando Padua, President of Paulson Puerto Rico. “This renovation reflects our continued commitment to investment in Puerto Rico’s hospitality landscape and delivering excellence that honors history, inspires our people, and elevates our island’s global standing.”
The In-Suite Wellness Package, requiring a two-night minimum stay, allows guests to indulge in restorative luxury in the serenity of their suite. The package includes Commodore Oceanfront accommodations, daily butler service, a restorative in-suite massage, natural cold-press juices, a sleep kit, herbal relaxation tea, a Stakt goya mat linking to guided yoga classes, organic aromatherapy, and crafted Puerto Rican body products. In addition, guests receive a daily full American breakfast for two (in-room or at Ola Oceanfront Bistro) and a $200 hotel credit.
Executive Chef Juan A. Peña, whose 25-year career has included acclaimed Five-Star and Five-Diamond properties worldwide, will oversee the property’s eight dining outlets, in-room dining and banquet operations.
