Being born and raised in Hawaii is where a lot of Nate Ugale’s passion for hospitality and tourism stems from, starting out as a Front Desk agent, then transitioning his way into his current role as a Senior Transient Sales Executive.
The Westin Maui is not just any hotel but one that he truly calls home, as his mom previously worked at this same resort, a true full circle moment. When he transitioned into his current role, he made it a personal goal to build the necessary relationships with travel advisors and other partners along the way.
With everything that has happened on Maui since the tragedy in August 2023, being out in the market and talking to advisors one on one, instilled the confidence they needed to bring business back to the island with a bonus of having a point of contact on property throughout the process was a bonus for them. To Ugale’s surprise and efforts, the resort was awarded “Best New Resort or Major Renovation, Hawai’i” at this year’s TravelAge West WAVE awards.
This was a true testament of all the travel, hosted FAM’s, site inspections and more that he focused on in 2024 that truly showed within the travel advisor community.
Nate is 35 years old.
“It’s an honor – truly. Being born and raised on Maui, I never would have imagined that my career in the hospitality field, let alone the travel industry, be where it is today.
