AmaWaterways has marked a major milestone in its expansion into Colombia. This week, the brand launched its second ship on the Magdalena River, with AmaMelodia joining sister ship AmaMagdalena on the iconic South American waterway.
“After seeing the incredible response to AmaMagdalena earlier this year, we are thrilled to welcome AmaMelodia to the AmaWaterways fleet,” says Catherine Powell, chief executive officer of AmaWaterways. “Launching these two ships has been an extraordinary collaboration with our Colombian partners. Together, we are not only creating unforgettable travel experiences for our guests but also helping to build a sustainable foundation for tourism that benefits local communities along the river.”
AmaMelodia can accommodate up to 64 guests, with staterooms ranging from 237 to 318 square feet. The Main Restaurant offers locally inspired Latin American cuisine and Western favorites, while the Main Lounge provides music and entertainment in the evenings. The ship also has a whirlpool on the Sun Deck.
AmaMelodia is sailing two seven-night itineraries, “Magic of Colombia” and “Wonders of Colombia.” Excursions range from private performances of the Barranquilla Carnival, to an exclusive jazz concert in Mompox and a visit to Palenque
“Seeing AmaMelodia set sail is very meaningful to me,” says Kristin Karst, co-founder and chief brand ambassador for AmaWaterways. “Over the past three years, I’ve had the privilege of working closely with our Colombian partners and witnessing the incredible pride and passion that define this country.”
“From its talented artisans to the warm communities along the riverbanks, Colombia’s spirit is woven into every detail of this ship,” Karst continued. “AmaMelodia is a celebration of that culture and a beautiful example of what can be achieved through true collaboration and respect for local heritage.”
