A study conducted by Hotels.com has revealed one of the most
popular travel trends of the year– Betwixtmas.
Travel searches for the dates between Christmas
and New Years, termed ‘Betwixtmas’ doubled those of spring break and showed
a 140 percent higher interest in all-inclusive resorts compared to the rest of
December making it one of the most popular travel periods of the year.
As more companies give employees the full week off, Betwixtmas
has become a window for travelers to get away without a work pileup on their
return. All-inclusive
resorts offer convenience; zero planning and predictable costs and Gen Z is
driving the trend identifying minimal stress as their top reason for booking
all-inclusives. These travelers want a break to unwind, disconnect and start
the New Year refreshed.
Trending Betwixtmas Break destinations include St. Lucia and
St. Thomas and Playa Del Carmen (up 50 percent), Punta Cana, Dominican Republic
(up 45 percent), Aruba (a 40 percent increase) and Turks and Caicos and San
Juan Puerto Rico (up 35 percent).
Melanie Fish, VP of Communications for Hotels.com said in a
statement, “The week after Christmas is that magical time when e-mail is slow,
calories don’t count and it’s time to mentally clock out. According to our
research, Gen Zer’s say their top reason for seeking out an all-inclusive is for
‘minimal stress,’ which is precisely the Betwixtmas vibe.”
