MSC Cruises is making changes to Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, its private island in the Bahamas.
The cruise line plans to upgrade the destination, which opened in late 2019, with new food and beverage facilities, an adults-only beach, a dedicated family lagoon and more.
The pier will also be extended to allow two ships to call simultaneously.
Construction is underway now and the updates are scheduled for completion by late 2027, according to the cruise line. From that point, guests will be able to enjoy four new dining experiences, bringing the total number of restaurants to seven. A signature specialty restaurant will be added, alongside new buffets and food market options.
Seakers Cove Family Beach is getting several new experiences, including a kid’s playground, a splashpad and a ropes course with water elements. The area will also feature ping-pong and foosball, as well as activities, tournaments and interactive games.
The cruise line is adding an exclusive retreat for adults called Paradise Sands, a greater variety of cabanas on the island and a new marine conservation experience from the MSC Foundation called “Shifting Perspective.”
Meanwhile, crews are also developing a second private island destination next to Ocean Cay known internally as Little Cay.
