The American Society of Travel Advisors (ASTA) has announced a slew of new hires, including Margo Van Ness as ASTA’s new Director of Communications and Stephanie Kent to round out the organization’s new corporate travel department.

Additional hires include Krystle Kimes as Senior Coordinator, Marketing and Communications; Megan Basile, Coordinator, Membership Sales Fulfillment and Jackson Bell, Advocacy Coordinator.

Van Ness brings more than 15 years of strategic communications and media relations experience to her new role, including senior roles with Vail Resorts and U.S. Ski and Snowboard. She’ll report to ASTA’s VP of Membership, Marketing and Communications, Michael Schottey and oversee ASTA’s external and internal communications strategy, focusing on brand storytelling, member engagement and thought leadership.

Meanwhile, Kent will lead a refreshed focus on supporting corporate travel agencies and travel management companies (TMCs) through ASTA Corporate, led by Executive Vice President Mark Meader, ASTA announced.

Kent’s impressive background spans decades and includes global sales and account management roles with Delta Air Lines, Air France, Singapore Airlines, Protravel, Omega World Travel and CWT.

“Communications is core to how we advocate for our members and inspire confidence in the advisor community,” ASTA President and CEO Zane Kerby said in a statement. “Margo brings a dynamic blend of industry insight and communications expertise that will position ASTA to lead boldly in a changing landscape.”

“We know that the strength of our organization lies in the passion and expertise of our people,” added Kerby. “Welcoming new team members is always an exciting moment, and these recent hires bring a wealth of talent, fresh perspectives and deep commitment to advancing our mission.”

Tuesday’s news comes on the heels of several key promotions and strategic additions to ASTA’s leadership team announced in March.
