Loyal American Airlines passengers will soon be able to cash in their frequent flier miles for tickets to one of the most anticipated events of 2026: the FIFA World Cup.
The airline is giving members of its AAdvantage loyalty program early access to redeem miles for tickets to the tournament, which is taking place across the United States, Canada, and Mexico next June and July.
AAdvantage members get access to the ticket purchases on different days, based on their status level. Travelers with Executive Platinum or ConciergeKey status will be able to make redemptions first, starting October 13. That’s followed by travelers with Gold, Platinum, or Platinum Pro status, who get access on October 14 and all other AAdvantage members on October 15.
“As the Official North American Airline Supplier of FIFA World Cup 26™, American is proud to help our AAdvantage® members be some of the first fans to score tickets to these iconic matches,” said Scott Long, American’s senior vice president of AAdvantage.
Travelers will be able to use their miles to purchase tickets to all matches throughout the tournament, according to the airline. But American didn’t say how many miles it would take to score one of the coveted stadium seats.
The carrier is also offering an ongoing sweepstakes in which AAdvantage members can enter to win tickets to the World Cup final, scheduled to take place in New Jersey on July 11. Fans can enter the contest once per day on the airline’s website.
In addition to World Cup tickets, American Airlines loyalty members can use their miles to book flights to many of the matches: the airline will offer flights to all 16 host cities throughout North America during the tournament.
