American Cruise Lines has kicked off its largest season of New England cruises, with its newest ship, American Patriot, making its debut.

This summer, the company is offering nine itineraries on five small ships in the region. One is American Patriot, the flagship in the line’s new Patriot Class.

After successfully passing sea trials, the 130-guest vessel is setting sail on its first cruise this week from Boston.

Departing June 21, the 15-day “Grand New England” voyages includes stops at Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket, Gloucester, Provincetown, and Plymouth, Massachusetts; Portsmouth, New Hampshire; Newport, Rhode Island; and Boothbay Harbor, Bar Harbor, Bath, Bangor, Portland, Rockland and Camden, Maine.

Looking ahead, American Cruise Lines plans to launch three additional Patriot Class sister ships in the next 16 months—American Pioneer, American Maverick and American Ranger.

The company’s New England itineraries range from eight to 16 days in length and include visits to destinations throughout Massachusetts, Maine, Rhode Island, New Hampshire and Connecticut (plus New York for Hudson River cruises). Departure ports include New York City, Boston, Providence and Portland.

As summer begins to fade into fall, American Cruise Lines keeps sailing, offering scenic fall foliage cruises in September and October.
