The American Society of Travel Advisors (ASTA) will host a live virtual town hall to discuss Norwegian Cruise Line’s recent decision to eliminate non-commissionable fares.
Moderated by ASTA’s Vice President of Membership, Marketing and Communications, Michael Schottey, the event will take place on Friday, January 16, at 1 p.m. ET and feature insights from John Chernesky, Senior Vice President, North American Sales for Norwegian Cruise Line.
Travel advisors, who can click here to register, will also have the chance to ask questions during a special Q&A session.
“Fewer industry practices are more frustrating to travel advisors than NCFs. ASTA will publish an ‘effective commission rate’ white paper in 2026 to help our travel advisor members understand the impact this hidden tax has on their businesses,” ASTA President and CEO Zane Kerby said in a statement.
“ASTA applauds NCL’s decision to rescind NCFs. We hope more cruise lines follow their lead, and look forward to a day when, industry wide, the stated commission rate is the actual commission rate. Bravo, NCL,” Kerby added.
