Judge dismisses Drake’s defamation suit against Universal Music Group over Kendrick Lamar dis track
NEW YORK (AP) — A federal judge tossed out a defamation lawsuit that Drake brought against Universal Music Group on Thursday, ruling that lyrics branding the superstar as a pedophile in Kendrick Lamar’s dis track “Not Like Us” were opinion. Judge Jeannette A. Vargas rejected the suit in a written opinion that began by citing “the vitriolic war of words” and saying the case arose “from perhaps the most infamous rap battle in the genre’s history.”She said a reasonable listener could not have concluded that “Not Like Us” was conveying objective facts about Drake.“Although the accusation that Plaintiff is a…

After OpenAI’s video-generating app Sora surged to the No. 1 position on the U.S. App Store, it has now, technically, experienced a bigger first week than ChatGPT on iOS, according to new data from app intelligence provider Appfigures. Its estimates show that Sora saw 627,000 iOS downloads in its first seven days of availability, compared with ChatGPT’s 606,000 iOS downloads during its first week. Shortly after the publication of this article, OpenAI’s head of Sora, Bill Peebles, announced that Sora reached a million downloads in under five days. He said that it was faster than ChatGPT, despite Sora being in…
Travel and the unique experiences it provides have never been more in demand. The same can be said for the expertise and skill of the travel advisors who turn clients’ dreams into reality and serve as a steady presence from booking to baggage claim. That was the biggest and most uplifting takeaway from the American Society of Travel Advisors’ (ASTA) three-day 2025 Legislative Day event in Washington, D.C. this week.”We estimate that there are 13.3 million in the U.S. looking to work with a travel advisor, fueled by firsthand experience, specializations and the ability to create bespoke trips,” said David Kolner,…
When Nick Turley joined OpenAI in 2022 as the head of ChatGPT, he was tasked with commercializing the company’s research. He has made great strides toward that goal, growing the product to 800 million weekly active users. Now Turley wants to take an even bigger swing: transforming ChatGPT into a new type of operating system full of third-party apps. I sat down with Turley this week on the outskirts of San Francisco’s Fort Mason, a former U.S. military post where OpenAI held its third annual developer conference, to discuss how he’s thinking about ChatGPT’s future. You can find a transcript…

Here’s what it’s really like to appear on billionaire VC Tim Draper’s ‘Meet the Drapers’ pitch show
There was barely a breeze on the roof of the MCM studios building in Manhattan last week as six entrepreneurs graced a stage to pitch their businesses. At one point, it was April Wachtel’s turn. She stood and made the case for her company, Cheeky Cocktails, to a judging panel that included the billionaire venture capitalist Tim Draper. Men holding TV cameras circled her as she pitched, capturing the moment live for Draper’s “Shark Tank”-style business competition show “Meet the Drapers.” The show is entering its eighth season, with past winners including the leadership platform Balloon and the food company…
