Google has partnered with Accel to find and fund India’s earliest-stage AI startups in a first-of-its-kind collaboration for the Google AI Futures Fund, launched earlier this year. On Tuesday, Accel and Google announced a partnership to jointly invest up to $2 million in each startup through Accel’s Atoms program, with both firms contributing up to $1 million. The 2026 cohort will focus on founders in India and the Indian diaspora building AI products from day one. “The thought process is building AI products for billions of Indians, as well as supporting AI products built in India for global markets,” Prayank…
India has granted legal status to millions of gig and platform workers under its newly implemented labor laws, marking a milestone for the country’s delivery, ride-hailing and e-commerce workforce — yet with benefits still unclear and platforms beginning to assess their obligations, access to social security remains out of reach. The recognition stems from the Code on Social Security — one of four labor laws the Indian government brought into effect on Friday — more than five years after the parliament first passed them in 2020. It is the only part of the new framework that addresses gig and platform…
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Shut down for more than six years, part of a scenic road loop in North Dakota’s Theodore Roosevelt National Park will reopen Tuesday, giving visitors a better opportunity to see wildlife and panoramic views of the rugged Badlands. The park’s 21-mile (34-kilometer) loop encircles a stark landscape where the 26th president wandered as a young man in the 1880s. The area includes colorful bluffs, dramatic formations from erosion and petrified tree stumps. Visitors enjoy encountering prairie dogs, bison and wild horses on the road. Storms, the erosive landscape and aging infrastructure caused a 150-foot (45-meter) section of…
ERIE, Colo. (AP) — “Gus” the turkey has been spending Thanksgiving week much differently than millions of other unlucky gobblers across the U.S. As he trots in a sprawling animal sanctuary on the Colorado plains, he is stopped every few steps by staff who pet him, hug him or even give him a peck on his red face. Gus has been there since 2023 after being pardoned by the governor.“What do you think? Do you want to do snuggles today?” Lanette Cook, education and engagement manager at the Luvin Arms Animal Sanctuary in Erie, says to Gus. Gus is among…
Short videos are in high demand. Across large platforms like Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok, users are watching billions of videos every day, with companies benefiting massively from this content explosion. For creators, this often means there is pressure to create more content than ever before to be relevant and make a living out of it, especially as more AI-generated slop is infiltrating these platforms. Jay Neo, a creator and former content lead for short videos at MrBeast, thinks AI can help creators understand what is working for them and also help them create new content ideas in that direction.…
by Lacey Pfalz Last updated: 8:45 AM ET, Mon November 24, 2025 Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem teased a $1 billion plan to modernize the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) equipment across the nation at an event praising select TSA officers who didn’t take time off during the 43-day government shutdown, which ended earlier this month. The announcement was made at the Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport, where she also announced that every TSA officer who didn’t take time off during the government shutdown would be awarded a $10,000 bonus in the style of Transportation Secretary Duffy’s recent bonus for…
Facebook Groups are getting more Reddit-like with newly added support for nicknames. The feature, which allows users to post under a custom username instead of their real name, provides an alternative to posting anonymously. With anonymous posting, users can share without the post being connected to their Facebook profile and real-life identity, but this approach also doesn’t allow other group members to get to know them or their personality, or to follow their updates over time. AI chatbots have been linked to serious mental health harms in heavy users, but there have been few standards for measuring whether they safeguard human well-being or just maximize for engagement. A new benchmark dubbed HumaneBench seeks to fill that gap by evaluating whether chatbots prioritize user well-being and how easily those protections fail under pressure. “I think we’re in an amplification of the addiction cycle that we saw hardcore with social media and our smartphones and screens,” Erika Anderson, founder of Building Humane Technology, which produced the benchmark, told TechCrunch. “But as we go into that AI landscape, it’s going…
by Lacey Pfalz Last updated: 9:20 AM ET, Mon November 24, 2025 Poor winter weather is expected to hit much of the continental United States this holiday week, potentially snarling traffic and impacting flights in regions across the country. According to the National Weather Service, during the first half of this week, the entire eastern portion of the United States from Vermont to Florida and west to Wisconsin, parts of Texas, and all the way to Washington state will see precipitation and storms, some of which might become snow in the more northern regions. The storm will head from the middle…
