Hi, thanks as always for reading TechCrunch. We want to talk with you quickly about something important. A growing number of scammers are impersonating TechCrunch reporters and event leads and reaching out to companies, pretending to be our staff when they absolutely are not. These bad actors are using our name and reputation to try to dupe unsuspecting businesses. It drives us crazy and infuriates us on your behalf. It ebbs and flows. Judging by the increased number of emails we’re receiving, asking, “Does this person really work for you?” it appears to be happening more actively at the moment.…
Elon Musk’s X has begun rolling out a new feature for user profiles that will display information about the account, including where it’s based, how many times the account has changed its username, the account’s original join date, and how the user downloaded the X app. The new information is meant to reduce inauthentic engagement on the platform, where bots often pretend to be humans — a problem that could get even harder to police in the age of AI. X’s plans for the feature were first announced in October, when X’s head of product Nikita Bier said the company…
Google has confirmed that hackers have stolen the Salesforce-stored data of more than 200 companies in a large-scale supply chain hack. On Thursday, Salesforce disclosed a breach of “certain customers’ Salesforce data” — without naming affected companies — that was stolen via apps published by Gainsight, which provides a customer support platform to other companies. In a statement, Austin Larsen, the principal threat analyst of Google Threat Intelligence Group, said that the company “is aware of more than 200 potentially affected Salesforce instances.” After Salesforce announced the breach, the notorious and somewhat-nebulous hacking group known as Scattered Lapsus$ Hunters, which…
U.S. President Donald Trump delivers remarks at the McDonald’s Impact Summit at the Westin Hotel in Washington, D.C., U.S., Nov. 17, 2025. Evelyn Hockstein | ReutersPresident Donald Trump on Monday said that California Gov. Gavin Newsom is “laying siege on the minimum wage.” Trump’s comments at the McDonald’s Impact Summit likely referred to California’s higher hourly pay floor for fast-food workers, which took effect a year and a half ago. However, data so far indicate the policy hasn’t been the danger Trump described. Research shows that the state’s fast-food worker turnover is down. Widespread closures haven’t occurred, and restaurant chains…
The White Lotus is coming back and officially has a new setting. After months of anticipation following the conclusion of Season 3, HBO and HBO Max chairman and CEO Casey Bloys has confirmed that the hit TV series’ fourth season will take place in France. “It’s going to be in France,” Bloys said during an HBO Max programming slate presentation in New York on Thursday, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “Mike [White] is writing and just starting.”Bloys also noted that White is “very, very early” in the casting process. Only a handful of stars, including Jennifer Coolidge, Jon Gries and Natasha…
Cybersecurity giant CrowdStrike has confirmed firing a “suspicious insider” last month who allegedly fed information about the company to a notorious hacking group. A hacking collective known as Scattered Lapsus$ Hunters published screenshots late Thursday and Friday morning in a public Telegram channel that allegedly showed insider access to CrowdStrike systems. The screenshots, which TechCrunch has seen, show dashboards containing links to company resources, including a user’s Okta dashboard used by employees for accessing internal apps. The hackers claimed in the Telegram channel to have compromised CrowdStrike through a recent breach at Gainsight, a customer relationship management company that helps…

Sierra, a 21-month-old, San Francisco-based startup that builds customer service AI agents for enterprises, announced on Friday that it reached $100 million in annual revenue run rate (ARR). The company’s rapid growth suggests that businesses across industries are embracing AI agents. The startup’s growth rate surprised even its seasoned co-founders, former Salesforce co-CEO Bret Taylor and longtime Google alum Clay Bavor, who wrote on their blog: “That’s a heck of a lot quicker than we expected.” Sierra’s customers include tech companies like Deliveroo, Discord, Ramp, Rivian, SoFi, and Tubi, as well as well-established businesses outside of the tech sector, such…
Thomas Lee Young doesn’t sound like your typical Silicon Valley founder. The 24-year-old CEO of Interface, a San Francisco startup using AI to prevent industrial accidents, is a white guy with a Caribbean accent and a Chinese last name, a combination he finds amusing enough to mention when he’s first introduced to business contacts. Born and raised in Trinidad and Tobago, the site of substantial oil and gas exploration activity, Young grew up around oil rigs and energy infrastructure because his entire family worked as engineers, stretching back generations to his great-grandfather, who immigrated to the island nation from China.…
