When Sierra Space won a contract to deliver cargo to the International Space Station nearly a decade ago, the company promised a first for the commercial space market: a privately built, rapid reuse and cargo return spaceplane capable of landing on commercial runways. That dream has changed. In a modification to the contract announced earlier this week, NASA and Sierra Space agreed to remove the agency’s guarantee to purchase cargo flights to the ISS. Instead, the Dream Chaser spaceplane will debut in a free-flying demonstration in late 2026, and will not dock with the station. NASA said it will provide…

Just over a year ago, Moxion Power closed its doors, adding its name to a list of high-profile bankruptcies that roiled the climate tech world in 2024. The portable battery startup had raised more than $110 million in a bid to replace diesel generators at festivals and construction sites, but even that wasn’t enough to get it through the valley of death. Moxion laid off more than 400 employees and its assets were liquidated. Now, the startup’s co-founder, Paul Huelskamp, and several former Moxion employees are back with another startup, Anode Technology Company, hoping to accomplish the same goal —…

TikTok, owned by the Chinese company ByteDance, has been at the center of controversy in the U.S. for four years now due to concerns about user data potentially being accessed by the Chinese government. LONDON (AP) — The historic British train journey that laid the foundations for much of the modern age is being celebrated Saturday on the 200th anniversary. On Sept. 27, 1825, the first steam powered railway engine to run on a public railway — George Stephenson’s Locomotion No. 1 — made its 26-mile (42-kilometer) journey on the Stockton & Darlington Railway between Shildon and Stockton via Darlington in the northeast of England. It was a small but significant milestone which augured rapid changes in the way Britain, and subsequently the world, lived, traded, traveled and communicated.Though the Stockton & Darlington was not…

In its latest bid to boost semiconductor production in the U.S., the Trump administration is reportedly considering a ratio-based approach that would penalize domestic manufacturers with tariffs if they don’t produce enough chips. The administration is weighing a policy that would mandate U.S. semiconductor companies to manufacture the same number of chips in the U.S. as their customers import from overseas manufacturers, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing anonymous sources.   Companies that don’t comply with this 1:1 ratio will be subject to tariffs, the report said, though the timeline to achieve this ratio isn’t clear. President Donald Trump has been talking about imposing tariffs on the semiconductor industry since the beginning of August.  …

Flipkart is working toward completing the transition within the next couple of months, aligning with India’s festive season — a critical sales period — and laying…

A data spill from an unsecured cloud server has exposed hundreds of thousands of sensitive bank transfer documents in India, revealing account numbers, transaction figures, and individuals’ contact details. Researchers at cybersecurity firm UpGuard discovered in late August a publicly accessible Amazon-hosted storage server containing 273,000 PDF documents relating to bank transfers of Indian customers.  The exposed files contained completed transaction forms intended for processing via the National Automated Clearing House, or NACH, a centralized system used by banks in India to facilitate high-volume recurring transactions, such as salaries, loan repayments, and utility payments. The data was linked to at…

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Golden lion tamarins and Hoffman’s two-toed sloths have become unlikely roommates in a brand new habitat at the Palm Beach Zoo and Conservation Society in Florida. Both species are native to the forests of South America, which is why the new habitat features a thick canopy of trees. The golden tamarins, with their distinct orange mane, love frolicking in the treetops, while the sloths are perfectly happy hanging from the trees.“Maybe the golden tamarins think of the sloth as more furniture because they don’t really do too much. They’re more sedentary,” said Devin Clarke,…
