Amazon has agreed to pay $2.5 billion to settle a lawsuit from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) over allegations that it duped users into paying for Prime subscriptions and made it hard to cancel memberships. The company will be required to pay a $1 billion civil penalty and provide $1.5 billion in refunds to an estimated 35 million consumers harmed by the company’s “deceptive Prime enrollment practices,” the FTC says. Early next year, Breeze Airways, which made its debut during the pandemic, will launch its first international seasonal flights to Mexico, Jamaica, and the Dominican Republic.The airline has been working toward gaining Federal Aviation Administration approval for the international flights for a significant amount, said Breeze Airways Chief Commercial Officer Lukas Johnson in an interview with CNBC. Instagram is experimenting with bringing tools to control your own algorithm to Threads, its X rival. The feature was uncovered while in development by reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi, who discovered the code and told TechCrunch it’s related to the algorithm configuration tools that are also coming to Instagram. When contacted, Instagram confirmed the product is still an internal prototype for the time being and is not currently being tested with users. GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK, Ariz. (AP) — Portions of the Grand Canyon’s North Rim will reopen soon after a wildfire destroyed a historic lodge and dozens of structures, the National Park Service announced Thursday.Daytime access will begin Oct. 1 to locations including Point Imperial, the park’s highest overlook at the eastern end of the Grand Canyon, and the Cape Royal overlook, the park service said in a news release.
