A judge has denied Meta’s request to dismiss a lawsuit brought against it by early employee Kelly Stonelake. U.S. District Judge Barbara Rothstein, who is overseeing the case, ruled this month that parts of Stonelake’s suit had merit, and the case will move forward. “I hope this ruling encourages others who have experienced discrimination and toxic workplace cultures to consider the courts as one way to push for justice and accountability,” Stonelake said in a statement given to TechCrunch. Stonelake, who worked at Meta from 2009 until being laid off in early 2024, filed a lawsuit against Meta in Washington…
Organizers of a Target boycott that began in January are pointing to their tactics as a hopeful sign that actions against corporate retailers can still make a deep impact. When Target announced its current chief executive officer will be stepping down in February 2026 and an insider was taking the helm, those organizers saw it as a move in the right direction and stress more than ever that boycotts will continue as long as previous promises made to the public go unfulfilled.“It’s been now nearly 200 days and what all the statistics and economics are showing that since that boycott…
Author Hank Phillippi Ryan has written a crime novel titled “All This Could Be Yours” about an author on tour to promote a crime novel titled “All This Could Be Yours.” As Ryan says in an endnote, it’s very meta. The fictional author is Tess Calloway, a woman and mother who quit a well-paying corporate job where she felt “invisible” in order to pursue her dream of becoming a novelist. OpenAI and Anthropic, two of the world’s leading AI labs, briefly opened up their closely guarded AI models to allow for joint safety testing — a rare cross-lab collaboration at a time of fierce competition. The effort aimed to surface blind spots in each company’s internal evaluations and demonstrate how leading AI companies can work together on safety and alignment work in the future. In an interview with TechCrunch, OpenAI co-founder Wojciech Zaremba said this kind of collaboration is increasingly important now that AI is entering a “consequential” stage of development, where AI models are used by millions of people…

Critics resist Florida’s mandate that cities remove rainbow crosswalks or risk state funding
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) — Fort Lauderdale city leaders will host an emergency meeting Wednesday to discuss how to respond to the state’s order to remove rainbow-colored crosswalks and other street art throughout Florida or risk losing millions of dollars in funding. The Department of Transportation under Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis ordered communities to remove the crosswalks and other street art by early next month. Most of the painted crossings celebrate marginalized groups, such as the LGBTQ+ and Black communities. A motorist passes over a street mural outside the Dr. Carter G.
