Workday, one of the largest providers of human resources technology, has confirmed a data breach that allowed hackers to steal personal information from one of its third-party customer relationship databases. In a blog post published late Friday, the HR technology giant said the hackers stole an unspecified amount of personal information from the database, which Workday said was primarily used to store contact information, such as names, email addresses, and phone numbers. Workday did not explicitly rule out that customer information was taken in the data breach, stating only that there was “no indication of access to customer tenants or…
Facebook Tweet Email Link Belgrade, Serbia AP — Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic on Sunday announced tough measures against anti-government protesters following days of riots in the streets throughout Serbia that have challenged his increasingly autocratic rule in the Balkan country. Thousands of people defied Vucic’s threat of a crackdown and protested later on Sunday in various Serbian towns, including the capital Belgrade. Shouting “Arrest Vucic,” the protesters demanded that all those detained in the past days be released. No incidents were reported. In one of his frequent TV addresses to the public, Vucic accused the anti-government demonstrators of “pure terrorism”…
Federal incentives for home energy improvements are running out at the end of the year, so it’s decision time for anyone who has been thinking about a heat pump. The right decision can depend on where you live, how much you have to spend and how deeply you want to cut emissions. But the payoff can be significant.Bill Gerosa was spending about $6,700 annually to heat and cool his house about 30 miles (48 kilometers) north of New York City. He was eager to bring down his costs, and shelled out $13,000 for a ground-source heat pump that was made more…
A Spanish social media influencer went viral for all the wrong reasons this week, after she posted a teary TikTok video describing her disastrous travel plans. Mery Caldass and her boyfriend were planning a romantic getaway trip to Puerto Rico, a U.S. territory. But Caldass, who said she “always [does] a lot of research” for her trips, relied on ChatGPT for one critical question—did they need a visa to visit Puerto Rico? ChatGPT told her that no she did not need a visa, and apparently Caldass did no further digging. The truth is that while a visa isn’t required for…
Facebook Tweet Email Link London — The increasing use of TikTok trends and social media terms in everyday conversation has led Cambridge Dictionary to include “skibidi,” “delulu” and “tradwife” in the 6,000 new words it has added to its online edition over the past year. To those of us who spend less time online, some of the phrases the UK-based dictionary uses to show how these new words fit into sentences may look like gibberish. How exactly do you describe the precise meaning of “that wasn’t very skibidi rizz of you” or “As Gen Z say, I’ve entered my ‘delulu…
by Jen Mallia Last updated: 6:30 PM ET, Sat August 16, 2025 In what is being called a “terrible precedent” by CUPE and a “blatant misuse” of the Labour Code by opposition MPs, federal Jobs minister Patty Hajdu has ordered Air Canada flight attendants back to work while the airline and union undergo binding arbitration. As of Aug. 17, CUPE has defied the order and is refusing to return to work. In response, the airline has postponed its plan to resume flights on Sunday, stating it is looking to have flights start again in the evening of Aug. 18, 2025.Minister…

A cartel war bleeding Sinaloa dry: homicides rise 400% in the year after the fall of ‘El Mayo’
Facebook Tweet Email Link Mexico City — August 10 was, for many in Mexico, a quiet Sunday like any other. But in Sinaloa – a northwestern state facing the Pacific – it was no ordinary Sunday. That day, 17 homicides were committed: one every 85 minutes. According to Mexican government figures, it was the most violent day of 2025 in Sinaloa, exceeding every other state in the country. Sunday’s killings were some of the latest in a spate of violence that has gripped the state following the surprise arrest of Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada, who authorities say is a long-time…
