Palestinian-American beaten to death by Israeli settlers in occupied West Bank, another man shot dead, health ministry says
CNN — Israeli settlers killed a 20-year-old Palestinian-American man in the West Bank, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health and an eyewitness, as settler violence against Palestinians ramps up in the occupied territory. Twenty-year-old Sayfollah Musallet “was martyred after being severely beaten all over his body by settlers in the town of Sinjil, north of Ramallah,” the health ministry said in a statement on Friday. The municipality of Sinjel said that Musallet died following a “barbaric attack” carried out by settlers as part of “daily assaults” on local residents. It alleged Israeli forces stormed the area at the same…

Medium CEO Tony Stubblebine announced on Friday that the publishing platform has remained profitable since August of last year, when it first achieved this milestone. In the post, Stubblebine detailed what it took to achieve this goal, which involved a combination of product changes, an investor restructuring, renegotiated loans, unloading office space, layoffs, and other difficult cost-cutting measures. His post offers a deep dive into what it takes for a startup to achieve a turnaround and the tough choices that have to be made. According to Stubblebine, the company was losing $2.6 million per month when he joined in 2022.…
Cognition’s AI coding agent Devin has scored a major customer: Goldman Sachs, the bank’s CIO, Marco Argenti, told CNBC. “We’re going to start augmenting our workforce with Devin, which is going to be like our new employee,” Argenti told the outlet, adding that it plans to roll out hundreds of instances of Devin, potentially growing to thousands. The bank currently employs around 12,000 human developers, it says. Despite the financial industry’s reputation for being slow and stodgy, Goldman Sachs tends to be cutting edge, and it’s been internally using developer copilots since at least 2024, it said. Devin is an…
CNN — The deadly surprise attack in Gaza was almost as shocking as its location. On Monday night, a group of Israeli soldiers walked across a route used by tanks and armored vehicles about a mile from the border fence when a bomb exploded. Remotely operated, it tore into the troops from the Netzah Yehuda battalion, a unit made up of ultra-Orthodox soldiers. More Israeli forces rushed to their aid as a second bomb exploded, also remotely operated. When a third bomb went off moments later, it came with a hail of small arms fire from a Hamas cell that…
GLOUCESTER POINT, Va. (AP) — Stepping onto an old wooden duck blind in the middle of the York River, Bryan Watts looks down at a circle of sticks and pine cones on the weathered, guano-spattered platform. It’s a failed osprey nest, taken over by diving terns.“The birds never laid here this year,” said Watts, near the mouth of Virginia’s Chesapeake Bay. “And that’s a pattern we’ve been seeing these last couple of years.” An osprey is silhouetted as it perches atop a nest on the Lynnhaven River, June 30, 2025, in Virgina Beach, Va. Sarah Smith, founder and managing partner of the eponymous Sarah Smith Fund, announced Thursday the final closing of a $16 million Fund I. Smith launched her fund in 2022 after spending seven years as an investor with Bain Capital Ventures and is a solo GP. She said she’s “stunned” by what AI can unlock for firms like hers, solo and next generation. “I can’t imagine doing venture any other way now,” she said. “While I believe company building still requires a team effort, I believe early-stage investing is best done solo.” She appreciates how she can make fast decisions that…
