If you want to know how big an upgrade the “M3GAN” sequel has on the original, look no further than the very first scene. “M3GAN” was mostly set in a Seattle house, but “M3GAN 2.0” starts at the Turkish-Iranian border — with a murderous rampage in a secret military installation and the presence of Saudi intelligence, with U.S. Defense Department officials covertly watching. Two hours later, it’s not clear if this is really an upgrade. Most of the same team that gave us the refreshing horror-comedy original two years ago have not only gone super-big, but also changed the franchise’s genre, turning…
JetBlue is making some strategic changes to its route network as it navigates economic uncertainty that has been rippling through the U.S. airline industry. The New York-based carrier said it will end its route to Miami International Airport (MIA) after September 3, according to CBS News. JetBlue operates one route to MIA from Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), with one to two flights per day. However, the airline has more robust networks at nearby Florida airports, including Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL). Routes to those airports will stay intact for now.The final flight on the…

Most governments and people in Europe agree with Trump’s stated premise that they need to spend more on their militaries — and stop their historical, postwar reliance on the United States. But Trump’s unpredictability still causes great anxiety on the Continent, particularly his repeated questioning of the mutual defense promise at the heart of NATO, which was established after World War II to counter the Soviet Union.NATO members voted Wednesday to more than double their defense spending targets to 5% of gross domestic product, acceding to Trump’s demand. This caused some disquiet when Trump first suggested it in January, but…

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Trump administration has found that the California Department of Education and the state’s high school sports federation violated civil rights law by allowing transgender girls to compete on girls sports teams. The federal Education Department announced the finding Wednesday and proposed a resolution that would require California to bar transgender women from women’s sports and strip transgender athletes of records, titles and awards. It’s the latest escalation in the Republican administration’s effort to bar transgender athletes from women’s sports teams nationwide. If California rejects the proposal, the Education Department could move to terminate the state’s federal education funding.“The…
London CNN — The United Kingdom will host Donald Trump for a state visit this year, but King Charles and the US president won’t be able to meet informally over the summer due to their busy diaries, CNN understands. The “Manu Regia” – a formal invitation signed by the British monarch – was hand delivered to the White House by representatives of the British embassy in Washington last week. Charles, 76, had initially suggested in a letter delivered to Trump in the Oval Office in February by the UK prime minister that the pair could first meet in Scotland at…
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — The case behind the U.S. Supreme Court ruling legalizing same-sex marriage nationwide a decade ago is known as Obergefell v. Hodges, but the two Ohio men whose names became that title weren’t so at odds as it would seem, and are now friends. One year after the Supreme Court’s June 26, 2015, decision, lead plaintiff Jim Obergefell was at an event for an LGBTQ+ advocacy organization when its former director asked if he wanted to meet Rick Hodges, who’d been the title defendant in his capacity as state health director in Ohio, one of the states…
