Carnival Legend made an unexpected visit to Acapulco, Mexico, on Saturday because of bad weather.
The surprise call marked Carnival Cruise Line’s first return to the city in more than 15 years.
After stopping in Acapulco, the ship is continuing the rest of its planned itinerary, a 16-day repositioning cruise from San Francisco to Galveston.
It’s also scheduled to visit Puntarenas, Costa Rica; Cartagena, Columbia; and Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands; before crossing the Panama Canal. The vessel is slated to arrive in Galveston on October 22.
Carnival Cruise Line last visited Acapulco in 2010. But, earlier this year, the cruise line announced that Carnival Legend will return to Acapulco as part of a special Carnival Journeys voyage in 2027.
The 16-day repositioning cruise will depart Tampa, Florida, on April 4, 2027, and will sail to Seattle, featuring a full Panama Canal transit and visits to Cartagena and Santa Marta, Colombia; as well as Cabo San Lucas and Acapulco, Mexico.
