Disney Cruise Line officially has a new ship.
The shipbuilding team at Meyer Werft handed over Disney Destiny to the cruise line on Wednesday in Eemshaven, the Netherlands.
The “heroes and villains”-themed ship will debut in November at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Disney Destiny will offer 4- and 5-night cruises to The Bahamas and Western Caribbean.
The delivery is just the “latest milestone in our long-standing partnership with Disney Cruise Line,” says Bernd Eikens, chief executive officer of Meyer Werft. “I would like to express my sincere thanks to everyone involved.”
Disney Destiny is the sixth ship Meyer Werft has constructed for Disney Cruise Line. The two companies started their partnership with the Disney Dream in 2010, followed by Disney Fantasy in 2012.
Meyer Werft also built Disney Wish, and is currently constructing another sister ship, slated for completion in the fall of 2027.
