Low-cost carrier Frontier Airlines is introducing a new flexible benefit for its passengers. The Denver-based airline will now offer its customers an add-on service called Disruption Assistance for Any Reason.
The service is the first of its kind for any United States airline and is now available for purchase on Frontier’s booking site.
As part of the suite of new solutions for customers with same-day flight cancellations or delays of two hours or more, Frontier will offer to book passengers an alternate flight on any airline.
Here’s how the new disruption assistance will work: Customers who opt in and have a disrupted flight will receive automatic, proactive notifications to help them solve their flight issues themselves. In addition to the option of booking an alternate flight on another airline, the service will also allow passengers to opt for a 100% refund while choosing another flight with Frontier.
The new product is part of a larger initiative by Frontier to improve customer service and streamline operations. “This offering reflects our continued commitment to building The New Frontier—where travelers have more control, greater transparency, and added confidence every step of the way,” said Bobby Schroeter, Frontier’s chief commercial officer. “By providing smarter, faster solutions when plans change, we’re making flying easier and more customer-centric than ever before.”
The assistance service is powered by HTS, a B2B division of travel platform Hopper. The platform uses data advantage and AI-driven travel technology to address travelers’ needs and help solve their disruptions.
Customers will see the option to purchase the service when booking flights on Frontier’s website. The disruption assistance is currently unavailable for purchase in the airline’s mobile app, but the carrier plans to extend the add-on option to the app booking process soon.
