Halloween is just weeks away and for many of the holiday’s enthusiasts that typically means going trick-or-treating or perhaps attending a Halloween-themed party.
For globetrotters who want to take the seasonal scare-fest up a notch however, there’s always the option to book a night in what Airbnb is calling its “ultimate lineup of haunted homes.”
“From homes where ghostly sightings are a part of the lore, to stays with centuries-old haunted histories, or even properties inspired by classic Halloween movies and TV shows,” Airbnb has an option for those who love nothing more than a spooky experience.
Here are Airbnb’s top 10 spooktacular listings.
Parks-Bowman Mansion: The Haunted Bedroom, New Orleans, LA
This spooky stay is located in the heart of New Orleans’ Garden District. The historic Parks-Bowman Mansion is known for being the location of sightings of a ghostly young girl wearing a yearlong 1890s dress. But those sightings only take place in the home’s “Haunted Bedroom,” which you must specifically reserve.
Don’t believe it’s haunted? Think again. The property was voted among the “Top Ten Haunted Airbnb Locations” by Buzzfeed.
Additional key details about The Haunted Bedroom include: You’ll bunk in a queen-size bed and have access to a sitting area, full shower bath and a third-floor porch that provides sweeping views of New Orleans.
Though the property owners say the ghost is “shy” if the potential of seeing such an apparition is just too much, you can always opt to reserve one of the mansion’s other two guest rooms.
The Manor, Master Chamber, Saint Paul, MN
Built in 1883 and held by one family for generations, this mansion was voted Saint Paul’s most mysterious house by the Pioneer Press years ago. Paranormal investigations have frequently explored The Manor’s haunting history.
The property has also been voted one of the most loved homes on Airbnb, but that’s not nearly as spooky, is it?

This eerie, nationally recognized historic building was once a morgue and funeral home. Since then, numerous professional paranormal research teams have spent the evening and reported many unexplained events.
“Some have had haunted happenings,” says the listing. Though it adds that there’s no guarantee you too will experience such an event.
Guests brave enough to check in will find a home filled with antique décor. Accommodations include a loft setting offering a king bed, full-size bed, twin bed and an antique settee, potentially suited for a small child, according to the listing.You’ll also have access to a living room, kitchen, bathroom and outdoor back yard.
But visitor beware: There are no refunds if you leave mid-stay if you are too scared to sleep!

Built in 1838 for tailor Henry Derby, this downtown Salem home features creaky stairs, rattling windows, and the possibility of paranormal encounters.
“This is an antique house over 180 years old. Do not expect it to look or feel like a hotel when you arrive,” says the listing. “The stairs will creak, the windows will rattle when it’s windy, and you may experience paranormal activity in the house during your stay.”
In addition to the spooky features, this colonial home includes seven bedrooms and four bathrooms, along with an updated kitchen and baths.

Dating back to the 1600s, Linville Manor is known as one of Maryland’s most haunted spots. The estate dates back to 1852 and holds a great deal of history. Legend says spirits gather here at 1:11 AM, and mysterious crashes echo through the halls.
Additional fun facts about this estate: It sits on one of Maryland’s earliest land-grant properties and boasts direct connections to the Star-Spangled Banner. The four-acre property is also home to the second oldest beech tree in the state.
