Justin Murphy was studying Pre-Med at Louisiana State University and working the graveyard shift in the ER at Our Lady of the Lake RMC before taking a year off to join VIP Travel Experience, the family-run agency he now runs with his mother, Tammy. What began as a single year away from academia blossomed into a dream come true.
A transformative three-week odyssey through Australia, gazing upon iconic landmarks, uncovering vast rainforests and snorkeling the unbelievable Great Barrier Reef, ignited his belief in travel as a multi-sensory awakening.
Over the past decade, he’s led VIP’s evolution from a mother-son duo into a full-service team, crafting bespoke journeys that transcend expectation.
Every year, he and Tammy host two “Southern Suitcases” (come with VIP) group experiences to give clients, especially those who have never traveled internationally or feel uneasy traveling by themselves, the confidence to explore the world. His team personally escorts each trip, and he considers it a true blessing to witness these destinations through his clients’ eyes for the first time, rediscovering their magic all over again. As for recognition, one of his biggest personal achievements is the year he joined VIP and helped it reach the host agency’s Top 10 Producer’s Club.
Murphy’s standout qualities are intuitive empathy, meticulous attention to detail, and a flair for creative itineraries. He’s the kind of planner who feels more like a travel genie, someone who listens past the “usual” to uncover those secret travel dreams clients haven’t even voiced yet. He’s obsessively detail-oriented (nothing slips through the cracks), but also loves injecting playful surprises like a sunrise hot-air balloon ride ending with a champagne picnic or a private chef who whips up a client’s childhood favorite.
His background in the medical field has given him the tools to stay calm under pressure, so if plans change, he’s already three steps ahead with a solution. And teaming up with his mom, Tammy, brings that genuine family warmth, making clients feel welcomed into a travel-obsessed clan each time they share a new itinerary.
Murphy is 34 years old.
