Flags Over Texas has announced a new roller coaster will be added to its
theme park just in time to celebrate its 65th anniversary.
When completed in 2026, Tormenta Rampaging Run, a
record-breaking, adrenaline-pumping coaster will be the tallest, fastest,
longest and first-ever giga dive coaster in the world.
Themed after one of Spain’s longest traditions, the running
of the bulls, the new
attraction will tower over new and immerse themed area Rancho de la
Tormenta, depicting an old and secluded Spanish village that includes Spanish Latin-American
restaurant, Cocina Abuela.
Tormenta Rampaging Run will transport riders to 309 feet
before plunging into a record-breaking 95-degree, beyond vertical drop with
sharp turns, other exhilarating drops, all replicating the famous running of
the bulls. In addition, riders will experience being upside down at 218 feet.
Reaching a speed of 87 mph, the coaster will be the fastest on
the planet. Spanning 4,199 feet, the ride will offer extended weightlessness
moments, and at 179 feet, the loop is the highest of any coaster of any type in
the world.
“Six Flags Over Texas has always been a leader in
creating unforgettable experiences, and with Tormenta Rampaging Run we are
soaring to new heights,” said Mark Boyer, VP and Park Manager for Six
Flags Over Texas.
He added, “This coaster is a true testament to our
commitment to providing world-class thrills and innovation, and we can’t wait
to bring this historic ride to life in 2026.”
Sophie Bolliger, President of Bolliger & Mabillard,
consulting engineers and designers of the coaster said in a statement, “As
the world’s first giga dive coaster, Tormenta Rampaging Run introduces a
completely new ride category, blending giga coaster heights with the fun and
thrill of a dive coaster. This level of innovation sets new standards for the
theme park industry and our company is honored to be part of this historic
moment with Six Flags.”
