The Sonesta International Hotels Corporation announced an
agreement to build a new Sonesta hotel on the Caribbean island of in Curaçao
near Jan Thiel Beach and Willemstad, the historic capital city.
The new
property is expected to join the Sonesta portfolio early in the second quarter
of 2026.
“The hotel will extend Sonesta’s goal of establishing an expanded
footprint in the Caribbean,” said Keith Pierce, Sonesta’s EVP and President of
Franchise & Development. “This deal marks Sonesta’s most recent foray into
Curaçao and is reflective of our broader commitment to continued expansion in
Latin America and the Caribbean.”
“We are excited to expand Sonesta’s footprint in the
beautiful island of Curaçao, expanding the portfolio’s strength and brand
awareness in a highly sought after destination,” added Pierce.
The Sonesta brand is a familiar one in the Dutch Caribbean
as the company has operated hotels in Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao in the 1990s
and again in 2015-2016 in Curaçao.
