The White Lotus is coming back and officially has a new setting.
After months of anticipation following the conclusion of Season 3, HBO and HBO Max chairman and CEO Casey Bloys has confirmed that the hit TV series’ fourth season will take place in France.
“It’s going to be in France,” Bloys said during an HBO Max programming slate presentation in New York on Thursday, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “Mike [White] is writing and just starting.”
Bloys also noted that White is “very, very early” in the casting process.
Only a handful of stars, including Jennifer Coolidge, Jon Gries and Natasha Rothwell, have appeared in multiple seasons of The White Lotus.
It’s not clear where in France the story will take place. “Beyond that, locations, anything like that, there’s nothing official [to say],” said Bloys. “But Mike has got ideas that he’s working on, and I think it’s going to be great.”
This would mark The White Lotus’ triumphant return to Europe. Season 1 took place in Hawaii, with Italy serving as the backdrop for Season 2 and, most recently, Thailand hosting Season 3.
Already the world’s most-visited country, a fourth season set in France would undoubtedly spur an uptick in travel to the popular country as previous seasons have enticed travelers to embrace the emerging set-jetting trend of visiting locales from their favorite films and TV shows.
