At first glance, many readers would know that Percy Jackson, A Court of Thorns and Roses and People We Meet on Vacation have little in common—except, perhaps, their remarkable popularity.
EF Ultimate Break, the tour operator for young adults aged 18-35, is announcing a new tour collection inspired by BookTok and the people who love books, launching a new tour category made specifically for fans of these books and series.
As a recent study found that four in ten young adults are members of book clubs, and 62 percent desire to travel to a place they’ve read about in a book, EF Ultimate Break’s new BookTok trips immerses travelers in their reading passions, along with the destinations themselves.
“We’re seeing a shift toward young people seeking out more meaningful travel experiences where they can connect face-to-face around their shared interests,” said Heather Leisman, President, EF Ultimate Break. “Our new BookTok-inspired trips give travelers the chance to turn those online conversations into real-world friendships while exploring the places that bring their favorite stories to life.”
The tours each offer book club discussions, themed experiences, literary locations that are important either to the author or within the book itself, along with experiences that are designed to draw people together.
The first new trip is the Cairo, Athens & Rome: Inspired by Percy Jackson itinerary. Travelers who love Rick Riordan and made his books a cornerstone in their childhood bookshelves will adore meeting like-minded fans and discuss whether they’d like staying at Camp Half-Blood or Camp Jupiter more while visiting Cairo, Athens and Rome.
The 9-day trip starts at $3,259 per person and has five departures next summer. Experiences include a trip to the Pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum, a visit to the Acropolis and plenty of extra enriching experiences to consider.
The second new themed trip is the eight-day Highlights of Switzerland: Inspired by A Court of Thorns and Roses. Starting at $3,319 with just three departures next summer, this ACOTAR-inspired trip brings Sarah J. Maas’s magical world to life, with a themed Starfall dinner in the “Night Court” of Zermatt, castle explorations, a transit along a glacier suspension bridge and more.
The trip visits Geneva, Lausanne, Zermatt, Lucerne and Zurich and includes book club discussions with fellow ACOTAR fans.
Lastly, but certainly not least, is one for the less fantastical of readers. The 10-day Cruise Croatia: Inspired by People We Meet on Vacation is a perfect complement to Emily Henry’s popular book.
Starting at $3,499 with just two departures next year, the tour visits Split, Dubrovnik, Hvar, Makarska, Korcula and Mljet, talking books with like-minded fellow travelers while exploring the beautiful region by boat. Who knows? You might just have your own meet-cute.
