WHY IT RATES: The Veteran
travel executive will lead Canadian expansion and support global strategic
growth for Travel Industry Solutions.—Donald Wood, Managing Editor.
Travel Industry Solutions (TIS), the travel industry’s
leading legal and payments-risk platform for travel advisors, providing
attorney-built contracts, secure credit-card vaulting, and real-time fraud
detection, today announced that Canadian travel industry veteran Mike Foster
has joined the company as Director of Strategic Partners and Shareholder. In
this executive leadership role, Foster will help expand TIS’s presence in
Canada following the company’s recent soft launch, while also supporting strategic
initiatives tied to TIS’s broader global operations. Foster has followed TIS
closely since the company launched and has long been an advocate for bringing
its solutions to the Canadian market.
“Mike has believed in what we do from day one,” said Sheila
Folk, CEO and Founder of Travel Industry Solutions. “He understands how travel
businesses operate in the real world, and he knows what’s missing, including
practical tools that help advisors, hosts, suppliers, and insurance partners
operate more professionally and protect their businesses, while saving time and
money. As we expand in Canada, his leadership and relationships will be a major
advantage.”
Foster is a London, Ontario–based travel industry leader
with more than 45 years of experience building, scaling, and mentoring
successful agencies and advisor networks. He began his career in 1981 and went
on to open a UNIGLOBE agency, which he later owned and grew into one of
Canada’s largest. That business ultimately became part of Nexion Travel Group,
where Foster served as President of Nexion Travel Group–Canada through 2024.
Now retired from day-to-day operations, Foster remains
active as an independent travel advisor, industry writer, consultant, and
investor. He is widely known for practical, advisor-first guidance on business
strategy, client care, and the thoughtful use of technology and AI to elevate
service and profitability.
Foster also continues to serve the industry through
leadership and governance. He currently sits on the Travel Industry Council of
Ontario (TICO) board and has held prior leadership roles with ACTA at both the
Ontario and national levels.
“What Travel Industry Solutions has built is needed across
the travel industry,” said Foster. “Travel professionals are expected to
operate at a higher standard than ever, with more complexity, more liability
exposure, and more moving parts. TIS delivers the kind of real, usable tools
that raise professionalism, strengthen protection, and create meaningful cost
savings for travel advisors and the businesses that support them. I’m excited
to help expand TIS in Canada and contribute to the company’s long-term global
growth.”
As Director of Strategic Partners, Foster will work closely
with host agencies, consortia, suppliers, and other key stakeholders to
strengthen adoption of TIS solutions, support advisor education, and help
advance consistent operational standards as TIS grows across markets.
