Travis Kelce, a 2024 Super Bowl champion tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs—and famously the fiancé of singer Taylor Swift—is investing in an amusement park dear to his heart.
Kelce, who grew up in suburban Cleveland, is a longtime fan of Cedar Point, the award-winning amusement park in Sandusky, Ohio, located about an hour’s drive west of the city.
In a release, JANA Partners announced that it has partnered with Kelce, along with consumer executive Glenn Murphy and technology executive Dave Habiger in an investment in Six Flags Entertainment Corporation. These new investors now collectively own an economic interest of approximately 9% in Six Flags. Cedar Point had been part of Cedar Fair, which merged with Six Flags last year.
JANA plans to engage with the Company’s Board of Directors and management regarding opportunities to enhance shareholder value and improve the guest experience. JANA Managing Partner Scott Ostfeld disclosed the investment at the 13D Monitor Active-Passive Investor Summit.
“I am a lifelong Six Flags fan and grew up going to these parks with my family and friends,” said Kelce. “The chance to help make Six Flags special for the next generation is one I couldn’t pass up.”
“We look forward to working with the Six Flags board and management to unlock shareholder value for the benefit of all stakeholders,” said Scott Ostfeld.
