East Coast travelers looking for a tropical getaway will have more options this fall.
United Airlines is expanding its nonstop flights to the Caribbean island of Dominica from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR). Starting October 29, the airline will add a second weekly nonstop flight from Newark to Dominica’s Douglas-Charles Airport (DOM) that will operate on Wednesdays.
The new Wednesday flight is in addition to United’s existing Saturday service, which launched in February 2025. The two flights will give travelers more flexibility, as visitors can now choose to stay for as little as three days or for one week or more.
“The addition of a second non-stop flight from New York to Dominica opens the door for even more travelers to experience the natural beauty, adventure, and warm hospitality that defines our island,” said Hon. Denise Charles-Pemberton, Dominica’s minister of tourism. “The tri-state area has long been one of our most important U.S. markets, and we’re excited to make it even easier for visitors from this region to discover all that Dominica has to offer.”
Known as “The Nature Island of the Caribbean,” Dominica has lush rainforests, vertiginous pitons, scenic waterfalls, and numerous hot springs. The island is also famous for unique experiences, like swimming with its home pods of sperm whales—it’s one of the only places in the world where the massive creatures can be seen all year round.
The four-and-a-half-hour flights are operated by United’s Boeing 737-700 planes, which are outfitted with business, economy plus, and regular economy classes.
The new flight will depart EWR on Wednesdays at 8:45 a.m. and land at DOM at 2:17 p.m. On the return leg, flights will depart Dominica at 3:45 p.m. and arrive at Newark at 7:45 p.m.
Fares are now on sale, and basic economy tickets for November 2025 are currently as low as $233 one-way.
