Universal Studios Hollywood is gearing up to add a fresh, high-octane attraction to its theme park lineup. The park announced that Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift, a brand-new roller coaster inspired by the blockbuster movie franchise, will open in 2026—and it’s not your average thrill ride.
Once completed, this outdoor coaster will reach top speeds of 72 miles per hour, making it the fastest roller coaster ever built by Universal Destinations & Experiences. The park also released a first-look rendering and teaser video, offering fans a sneak peek at the high-speed action to come.
Currently under construction, Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift is designed to fully immerse riders in the Fast & Furious universe, bringing the heart-pounding energy of the films to life.
This cutting-edge roller coaster promises an adrenaline-filled experience unlike any other. Outfitted with state-of-the-art technology that allows each car to spin 360 degrees, the ride will launch guests at speeds reaching 72 miles per hour along a 4,100-foot track designed with advanced noise-reduction features for a smoother, more immersive thrill.
As the cars rotate dynamically, riders will experience the feeling of drifting through the air, mimicking the tire-screeching action of the Fast & Furious films. The track itself weaves high above various sections of the park, including the iconic escalators linking the Upper and Lower Lots, giving riders a spectacular aerial view of the action going on below.
“Watching the progress of this incredible roller coaster come to life is truly spectacular,” said Scott Strobl, Executive Vice President & General Manager of Universal Studios Hollywood. “2026 is just around the corner and we are equally as excited as our guests to introduce such an inspiring new ride to our theme park portfolio. ‘Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift’ will be a powerful game changer for Universal Studios Hollywood that will not only transform the topography of our destination but will infuse an entirely new level of adrenaline to our already dynamic theme park. We look forward to riding it ourselves and to welcoming guests to experience it in the very near future.”
Set on the Upper Lot of Universal Studios Hollywood, Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift will welcome guests into a massive, garage-inspired queue area. From there, riders will board one of four custom vehicles styled after the legendary street racers from the film series. Among them is a car modeled after Dominic Toretto’s classic 1970 Dodge Charger, which is already on display at the park for fans to admire.

Once it opens, Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift will become part of Universal Studios Hollywood’s impressive collection of cutting-edge attractions. These include the interactive SUPER NINTENDO WORLD, home to the fan-favorite Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge; The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, featuring the detailed Hogsmeade village along with Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey and Flight of the Hippogriff; and Jurassic World—The Ride. Guests can also enjoy Illumination’s The Secret Life of Pets: Off the Leash and Despicable Me Minion Mayhem, explore Springfield, U.S.A. on The Simpsons Ride, battle Decepticons on TRANSFORMERS: The Ride-3D, or brave Revenge of the Mummy—The Ride.
With over $7 billion in global box office earnings across eleven films, the Fast & Furious franchise remains Universal Pictures’ highest-grossing and longest-running series. Its legacy has extended far beyond the screen, spawning merchandise, spin-offs and even a popular animated series.
