A Spirit Airlines pilot was recently arrested at New Orleans Louis Armstrong International Airport (MSY) on stalking charges in Kansas, according to reports.
Authorities arrested 40-year-old Dominic A. Cipolla of Kansas City, Missouri, on July 17 at the New Orleans airport in connection with charges for allegedly stalking two people who, according to court documents, are minors, The Guardian reports.
The charges were filed at the Johnson County Courthouse in Olathe, Kansas.
Cipolla was held in local jail as a fugitive, according to The Guardian, before being transferred to Johnson County jail, where he posted a $12,500 bond and was released. Spirit Airlines said it was “aware of a matter involving a pilot at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport, which was unrelated to the performance of their job duties,” an airline spokesperson told The Guardian.
The airline’s statement continued to say that the pilot has been removed from duty pending Spirit’s investigation into the matter, and another pilot was assigned to operate the flight out of New Orleans.
Court records viewed by The Guardian show that the charges for stalking the younger of the two victims can carry a sentence of about one to three years in prison under Kansas law, while the other charge can mean a fine of up to $2,500 or up to one year in county jail.
