U.S. travel agencies continue to set record marks for air ticket sales, according to the latest report from Airlines Reporting Corp. (ARC).
New data released on Thursday show that U.S.-based travel agency air ticket sales totaled $8.3 billion in August 2025. That figure marks a 2 percent year-over-year increase and the highest monthly sales total for August ever recorded by ARC.
This comes one month after U.S. travel agency airline ticket sales for July 2025 rose to $8.1 billion, a 7 percent increase over the same period in 2024 and a 2 percent increase year over year.
Meanwhile, August 2025 passenger trips settled by ARC reached 24.6 million.
Passenger trips issued through online travel agencies decreased 2 percent year over year, while those issued by leisure and corporate agencies decreased 3 percent and 6 percent, respectively, over the same period, ARC found.
“Air travel demand in August highlighted momentum seen throughout the summer as ARC-settled passenger trips were above 2024 levels in June, July and August,” ARC chief commercial officer Steve Solomon said in a statement.
“This data reflects recent reports from multiple airlines of strong demand and encouraging outlooks.”
New Distribution Capability (NDC) bookings continue to come along at a slow pace.
According to ARC, NDC transactions accounted for about one-fifth (20.8 percent) of the total ARC-settled transactions in August 2025, up from 18.8 percent in August 2024.
