It’s fall in the Florida
Keys, and while much of the country is celebrating with pumpkin-flavored
treats and warm jackets, The Keys are enjoying warm, salty breezes and flavors
of key lime, coconut and mango.
Getting to The Keys has gotten easier with a new airline
service and more added routes on others. New attractions include a newly
branded Dolphin Life Hospital in Islamorada and the historic Elizabeth Bishop
House & Garden opening to the public in Key West in November.
But there are plenty of other options for those visiting the
tropical island paradise this fall.
Airport & Airlines
At Key West International Airport,
the all-new Conch Flyer restaurant reopened in the new Concourse A. Beginning
October 3, Allegiant will add nonstop flights from Knoxville, Tennessee’s McGhee
Tyson Airport on Mondays and Fridays.
On November 19, Avelo
Airlines begins nonstop service from Connecticut’s Tweed-New Haven Airport
(HVN), twice weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Breeze Airways
will launch service from Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina (RDU) on Mondays and
Friday and beginning November 6, Spirit
Airlines will service Key West four times a week from Hollywood-Fort
Lauderdale International Airport.
Accommodations
Travelers looking for a boutique setting can book Baker’s Cay Resort, Curio Collection by
Hilton in Florida Bay with 12 brand-new luxury suites available for stays
starting in November.
The 60-acre Hawks Cay
Resort will unveil a newly renovated marina on Duck Key in mid-December and
recently opened a 75-seat Salt + Ash dining venue led by Michelin-recognized,
Florida native chef Jeremy Ford.
In Marathon, Isla
Bella Resort is offering two all-inclusive dining packages at its 199-unit
property. Doubletree by Hilton Grand
Key Resort in Key West showcased a multi-million-dollar renovation
reflective of the Florida Keys.
Historic
Key West Vacation Rentals launched “The Quiet Season” promotional campaign
encouraging travelers to trade short getaways for month-long stays in restored
historic homes.
And partnering with Proud Source Water, Hyatt
Centric Resort & Spa in Key West conducted a community-based marine
debris cleanup at the City Rest Beach.
Attractions
MarineLab in Key Largo rebranded as MarineLab Undersea Park
& Museum. Jules’ Undersea
Lodge, the world’s only underwater hotel where a guest scuba dives to check-in changed its name to Jules’ Undersea Lab.
Dolphin Life Hospital
opened its doors on September 1 as a newly branded facility offering short and
long-term rehabilitation for small whales and dolphins.
In Marathon, Turtle
Hospital is undergoing a campus expansion while the re-imagined bank
facility will be converted for state-of-the-art research and medical treatment
for endangered sea turtles.
Mote
Marine Laboratory is offering a SCUBAPRO+Mote Community Coral Reef
Restoration Citizen Dive program, partnering with Southpoint Divers, for
certified divers and focused on marine research, conservation and coral
restoration.
Elizabeth Bishop
House & Garden in Key West opens to the public on November 1 while the Key West Art & Historical Society plans a
new exhibition, FOOD: Celebrating Conch Cuisine,” opening Friday, February 27,
2026.
Dining
Cuban-inspired Vicky’s Bakery has opened in Key Largo along
with the new Flagler Station Wood Fired Steaks & More launching in
Islamorada.
